I love reading fashion blogs and this provoked me to check out which of the big fashion labels are in the blogosphere. Regarding this I wanted to share with you my points about these five blogs.
Karen Millen, Dior, Max Mara, Benetton and Mango obviously embrace the idea about the business and publicity benefits driven by social media. How these 5 brands bring the fashion world from shows and magazines to the blog pages? Here is my short summary about these blogs which are quite contrasting. They represent the different perceptions of blogging.
1. Karen Millen: The blog exists since December 2008. It’s one of my favorite because it is just like a fashion magazine. New posts are published almost everyday and there is diversity of topics. You can catch up with some of the initiatives of the brand or see catchy styling proposals and tips. In addition, the blog represents also the brand’s media presence as well as some projects in cooperation with famous fashion magazines. I am subscribed for the newsletter and I like it very much.
2. Dior: The blog is pretty new – it was started in April 2010 and unfortunately there are no new posts since August. Still there you can find some useful tips for this fall tendencies. However, the blog is focused mainly on the brand products (and their characteristics) and provides content more appropriate for a corporate site. I hope they will continue the work on the blog and eventually will transform it.
3. Max Mara: The blog was started in September 2009 and a junior PR is responsible for it. The posts are not so frequent but on the other hand I like the writing style as well as the variety of topics you can find there. It is pretty different because it combines personal points of view of a girl who works for the brand and presents her working life. I should add that I found a Max Mara blog in Italian language too which exists since September 2007 and looks very interesting and appealing to me.
4. Benetton: Benetton Talk is the blog which actually surprised and impressed me. Most posts are written in category “human rights”. Next two leading posts topics are “environment” and “design”. It seems fashion is not the only topic which bothers the company. This actually reveals pretty good the company’s values. It was created in December 2005 and currently is written by 12 authors. Very impressive blog, you should check it out for sure.
5. Mango: Keep the Beat is a really nice blog. It provides online shopping services, corporate news as well as fashion ideas and tips for the current season. Although the blog is pretty new (since March 2010), there are lots of comments below every post. I actually enjoy reading this blog and it is added in my Google Reader.
I will continue my search for other blogs of fashion brands but it will be great if you know some and share them here.
